Merry Christmas from Donna
Hi everyone,
I'm writing to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I have decided to cut back on the number of Christmas cards I'm sending this year and instead leave a message here. I'm hoping that most of the family are checking this sight and that my Christmas wishes will reach those I used to send cards to and many more that I have missed over the years.
Danielle(from Buffalo) and Rachel(from RI) will be traveling home for Christmas and we are looking forward to having them here. Mom always spends the night Christmas Eve after a very large LaMarre gathering and Aunt Marie stops in Christmas morning. We miss Christmas day at Grandma's and seeing so many of you, but you are in our thoughts.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Love, Billy & Donna

Thanksgiving at our house
Tom here. We love hosting a big crowd at our house, so we always invite enough people to fill the table. This was our crowd on Thanksgiving Day. Kelley went to Savanah, GA with her fiance to be with his family. We miss her, but we were happy to have Brian and his wife, who will celebrate one year together on December 1.
Hope y'all had a nice Thanksgiving Day. Let's see your pictures from the day.

Here's an oldie
Tom here. I had to share this one. Lynette had it, and shared it via email. Initially I was trying to recognize my cousins. Nope. It's Grandma and Grandpa's first 3 children: Al, Ed, and Rita (left to right).
My dad is probably only about 8 months old, so I am guessing this was taken in the early part of 1921. Yvette was not born yet.
Thanks, Lynette for saving this treasure and for sharing it.

Kelley is Engaged
Linda and Tom here. We are happy to announce that our daughter Kelley is engaged to Brice Pridgen. Their story is fairy tale that is not common today. They met in the 4th grade, and began dating around the 9th grade. Kelley and Brice will graduate from their respective colleges in May and plan on marrying in the summer.
Kelley and Brice were in Brian's wedding last December, and it was apparent to many that they might be the next to get married. The picture here was taken at Brian's wedding. Throwing the bouquet was carefully fixed for Kelley to be the winner.
Linda and I were so happy to welcome Brian's new wife Ashley into our family, and now we're delighted to welcome Brice. We could not be happier.
Congratulations to Kelley and Brice. We love you both.

update on Terri's Surg
Hi everyone, just writting to let you know that I am cancer free. I found out yesterday. This has been a weight lifted off one shoulder. Now it is just the recovery of the surg which is going slow. I tire very easy and my belly area starts hurting midday. The Dr's are very good and told me that this would be.
Well as for Eric and the custody of Kaleb. The judge awarded Eric full custody and that Robin, Kaleb's mom only has him a few weeks in the summer and everyother christmas. When he turns 12 he can deceide wether or not he wants to go. This is really great news.

update on Terri's Surg
I went to surg on Oct 14th to have my kidney removed because of cancer. The pathology came back and there were 3 tumors. One in the utuer which was begin, two in the kidney one stage one and one stage 2. They were all still incapicalated in the kidney but the stage 2 one was starting to break through. This means that I have to go to an oncologist to see if they need to do any type of chemo or radiation. This appt is wednesday the 29th.
On to better news Dave left early this morning for north carolina to see the new grandchild Madison and Kaleb. Monday is the final court hearning for wether or not Eric is going to have full custoudy of Kaleb. Our lawyer says that he has a verygood chance. We will know Monday.

Back from Arizona
Hey everyone it's Joanne and Jimmy back from Arizona. Weather was sunny and 85-90 dry degrees everyday. We renewed our vows on my 47th birthday, went to the Grand Canyon, The Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, did Red Rock Jeep Tour in Sedona, just had ourselves some r&r as well at the resort, here are some pictures. The bottom left is me at Montezuma's Castle and the bottom right is Jimmy at our resort. The resort is called Sedona Pines and what the resort is, instead of hotel rooms, they are cottages. We lucked out we only had neighbors to the left of us. If you get a chance, you can view what the inside of the cottages look like by going to Sedona Pines.com and clicking on "cottages" then click on each room. Also click on the other images of the resort. It's a time share I bought into 7 years ago.

New Baby Girl
HI Everyone,
Our family has a happy announcement.
Ron & Kathy are proud grandparents of a beautiful baby grand daughter. Their son Robbie and girlfriend Brittany was blessed with a baby girl yesterday September 29th. Her name is Cameron Marie Julia Daoust. She weighed 9lbs 9oz. She is 22" in length. Both mother and baby are fine and healthy.
She was born on our Mother's Birthday. What a nice tribute to her. I know that both my parents are looking proudly at their Great-Grand Daughter from heaven. This is the first for all of us.
There will be pictures when they are available.
Love,
Judee - the proud Great Aunt. (my first)

Terri Surg update
I was suppose to have surg to have my kidney removed on Wed. Oct. 1st but it is posponed till Oct. 11th or 12th. I am going to have it removed laperscopic. This will mean less recovery time and less pain. I have transitional cell cancerima. If the transiction of the kidney after it is removed shows only stage 1 than that is all I will have to have done. If it shows stage 2 or 3 than I will have to have chemo.
Also to let everybody know Ashley, Eric, Kaleb and Madison are all doing great.
Love All,
Terri

Summer Show Season
Welcome from Central, New York. My daughters, Hilary (now 14) and Shelby (now 12) enjoy a fun summer of showing with their cousins Dylan (12 years old) and Allison (8 years old from NJ).
Aunt Irene and Aunt Frankie with Mark and Tyler came to check out the Herkimer County Fair. The girls liked having so many family members and friends watching them. I enjoyed telling everyone about the ins and outs of showing dairy cattle. All for kids did extremely well this year. They showed dairy cows, beef cows, and/or goats. Hilary took Grand Champion with her Brown Swiss cow, Prelude at the Youth Diary Show. Shelby took Grand Champion with her Ayrshire, Lia at the Youth Dairy Show, while Dylan took Grand Champion with his Ayrshire, Ruby at the Open Dairy Show. Shelby also got Grand Champion with her Nubian Goat at the Youth Goat Show and received Supreme Champion at the Open Goat Show. My niece who was showing for the first time received Pee Wee Showman and fourth place with her Jersey calf, Hannah at the Youth Dairy Show. Hilary, Dylan and Shelby also placed in the upper third of their showmanship classes which had 15-20 competitors. They had a great time at the fair.

Arizona or Bust
Hey everyone - Joanne here, I haven't been on in awhile--super busy. Anyway, Jimmy and I are leaving this Sunday - 9/14 for Sedona, AZ. I have a timeshare out there and after 7 years, (the last time I went out there, 9/11/01 happened, I was scheduled for 9/14 and that was the first day the planes went back in the air and you bet, I got on that plane, safest I ever felt flying), I'm finally getting to get out of dodge here. Jimmy has never been out west and is looking forward to it. We're taking the Grand Canyon Railroad from Williams (outside of Flagstaff) to the Grand Canyon on Tuesday. Wednesday is my "29 again" birthday and Jimmy and I are going to be renewing our vows at Cathedral Rock in Sedona, which was always a dream of mine to get married there.
Other plans are to go to the Petrified Forest and Painted Desert, Red Rock Jeep Tours in Sedona, go to Jerome (outside of Sedona, which is an abandoned mining town that has since been redone and turned into art galleries and shops, etc., also the people that live there don't know it's the millenium, they're still hippies and they think it's still the 70's there), and Meteor Crater. Then the other few days will be resort relaxation. If you'd like to see what my resort looks like go to sedonapines.com and click on "cottages" and click on "living room"...etc. and see what each room looks like. It's a beautiful resort. I'll be in touch when we get back on Monday 9/22. Take care - if anyone knows of anything else close by there for us to check out, let me know by this Saturday. Joanne Braman-Palmer

Here is a photo of Billy & I on a rafting trip on the Colorado River. We spent 5 days in Las Vegas with some on the LaMarre family and one day we took a trip on the river. We started at the base of the Hoover Dam it was beautiful and fun. We had vacation. We also spent a week in July in Rhode Island. Rachel lives in Providence now, so we spent some time at the beach, Danielle was able to fly down and join us for 2 days, it was nice to be together.

A new Daoust arriving in January
Josee here in North Carolina. I just wanted to announce that my husband and I are expecting our second child around the end of January. Some in the family already know, but I figured I'd make it official. So far the pregnancy is going well. Danny, our first born, knows that the baby is in my tummy and tries to put toys up my shirt for the baby. Here's a recent photo of the whole family (including the baby belly!).

1,000+ Visitors
Tom here. Has anyone noticed we passed 1,000 visitors, just since Feb. 17, 2008. Thanks to Josee for providing the counter. If you haven't done so already, click on the counter to see additional stats on the traffic on this site. It's interesting to see what causes a spike in visits and page views. You can even see where visitors are accessing from. Take a look.
Enough of that. Here is a picture taken when I went to Aunt Irene and Uncle Bill's during our visit to the Albany area.

A Memory from September 1st, 1956
Paul here ... Above, Uncle Roger and Aunt Jean's wedding photo.
This is a rare shot that includes the whole Daoust clan including Uncle Willy who was actually not present for the photo, but was added by a skilled darkroom technician. Think of how much simpler that activity is now over 50 years later. Uncle Willy was in the Air Force at the time and could not make it to the festivities.
Tom scanned this rare photo, which many of you have seen over the years, on a recent visit to Aunt Irene.

New Florida home
Here is Jayne and Ron's new Florida home. We only had 5 weeks to enjoy it before we had to head back north. We have alot of up dates we want to do to it but did not have time before leaving. Can't wait to get back there to start. We have so much room in the master bedroom we could hold a square dance. Will keep everyone up on our improvements.

An Invitation
Tom here. Here's a real gem of a picture. Cheryl reading to Paul (on R) and me (L). Many of us have old B&W pictures like this, and it's not difficult to share them by email and on blogs like this if you have a scanner.
I am flying to Albany this Friday (7/25), and will be in town for 10 days. I am bringing my scanner and laptop computer to capture some family photos when I visit Aunt Irene and Uncle Bill. Aunt Irene is collecting some photos y'all might be interested in seeing.
If you have any particularly good pictures you'd like to share on the blog I would be glad to scan them while visiting Aunt Irene. Drop them off at her place, and I will scan them for you. If you also leave your email address I will send you the scanned copy, and you can pick up your originals at Aunt Irene's.

Greetings from Route 66, Tucumcari, NM
Paul here ...
Today, on our return trip back east on Route 66 we came through Tucumcari, NM and spotted this mural on a wall.
I had spoken with Aunt Irene after we started our trip down Route 66 this summer, and she reminded me that she made the trip west in about 1957 with Uncle Larry, Aunt Rita plus Ellen and Danny.
I reminded her that I remembered the car they took on their trip to California was a '55 Dodge similar to the car on this mural. (which is a '56 Dodge with the tri-color paint scheme that was popular during the late 50's)
Aunt Irene, I want to know, did you pose for this mural in 1957 ? This sure looks like you. :-)

Independence Day 2008
Tom here.
Most people call the birthday of our country The 4th of July, which ignores the real meaning of the day. When was the last time you called it Independence Day?
Each Independence Day is a good time to read the Declaration of Independence. It's not hard to understand, and it's rather short. You can click here, read all about it, and learn a little about the importance of this uniquely American holiday.
Have a happy Independence Day.
