Paul Jr and Tim Jr's Graduation Weekend

Paul here ...
This month of May both Paul Jr and Timothy graduated with their Masters Degrees in separate ceremonies, Paul Jr. on May 10th and Timothy on May 16th. On the weekend of the 10th our whole family, minus the Okinawa contingent, met up in Boone at a condo to celebrate the event.

All our family was present except our Jackie, Tim and the three grand children who have been assigned to Okinawa for the next 3 years. The Stewart's, Paul Jr's inlaws, also joined us for the weekend.

This is an historic event in that in December 2004 both boys graduated together with their Bachelors degrees and now they do it again with their Masters.

Here is a link to my blog where some photos and video are posted.

Race for the Cure

Today we did the race for the cure breast cancer walk for my brother's wife Nolana. It was amazing to see all the suvivors. Nolana raised $2540.00 for the cause by herself, she placed fifth in Sacramento!!! She made the walk with us 1 1/2 weeks off of chemo... heres a picture of her (number 1845 on her chest) with the other 0-1 year suvivors, and us as a group.

Jackie (Daoust) Lewis leaves for Japan...

and we have had to bid them farewell as they leave for a three year assignment in Okinawa. Jackie is blogging along the way via her cell phone http://lewisfamof5.blogspot.com/ We had some wonderful family time together, extended and immediate, on both Tim's side and Jackie's, before they left us today, Tuesday. Now we adjust to missing them, but technology is making it so much easier for families to stay in touch.

And Paul and I have been very grateful for all of the Daoust family news via this blog. Thank you for posting and keeping us up to date with news and challenges. All of us live busy lives, much busier than our parents were...I don't know why, but I do try to live by this thought ... Family first, people before paper, and God will take care of the details.

Wilfred

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for helping me get California up to post. As you know a post when up today for a breast cancer race Michelle and I are in, we took on this challenge because my little brother's wife has breast cancer. She is a trooper I know you all don't know her but she is amazing!!!! She is the number 4 top fundraiser for Sacramento. She will walk with Michelle and I on May 10th and will have just finished her last round of chemo. Her name is Nolana Daoust and her page can be viewed from the home page. She is only 36. Her story may save someones life in our family.

Thanks again,

Darlene

HAPPY BIRTHDAY - MOM

Hi everyone, it's Joanne. I just got back from the cemetary - it would have been my mom's 73rd birthday today. As most of you know, after you lose a parent or any loved one for that matter, the first of everything is hard. So today was a little rough, although it also brought back a lot of fond memories of celebrating mom's birthday as well. I went to the cemetary and they were finally able to engrave 2008 in mom's stone (they haven't been able to because of all the cold weather we've not been enjoying around here). The guy who engraves the memorial promised he'd get it done by mom's birthday, but told me he couldn't do it until the weather warms up and said this is the first year he's not been able to get some of them done in March.

Anyway, again - Happy birthday - mom - I miss you soooooo much, but truly feel you around me a lot. Thanks for coming to me in my dreams - Joanne
