Hi Cousins,
Just joined the group. This is great way for all of us to keep in touch, and to keep up with the family news.
I will be the spokesman for the Alfred family. So I will keep everyone up to date about my family.
My Dad is doing great. He is now living at the Pavillion which is an assistent living facilty located in Catskill. He seems happy there, and he is well taken care of. The Staff there are great with him, and the food is good.
Well have to go, hope to hear from someone soon.
Love, Judee

Meet Bob D'Aoust from Canada
Tom here.
Several years ago I got a phone call from Bob D'Aoust. He said he was in Charlotte on business, but lived in Canada. Because we shared a last name, he was wondering if we might be related. I sent him our family tree.
Soon after, he called Aunt Irene and asked about Grandpa's brothers and sisters. With that info, he figured out how we were related. Bob says he is my 7th cousin, once removed. I think that means we share a grandpa eight generations back on my side and nine generations back on his side. Got that? Bob has traced us all the way back to the 1600s.
We stay in touch by email, and occasionally talk on the phone. I send him all the obits on the Daoust family.
Here's his self-written bio:
Bob was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, in 1945. He moved to Ottawa in 1947.
His Father's mother, Catherine and Sister Anne raised him until the age of 10 ages then his Father remarried in 1955. Bob had a great relationship with his stepmother Pat and they had countless wonderful times together. Pat and Percy started a new family when Bob was 16 years of age. Bob, attended elementary separate school and then on to the Ottawa Technical High School, graduating in 1963. Bob worked from the age of 11 on a paper route. While in high school Bob worked at a local food mart (Steinberg's Foods) as a pack and stock boy. Bob's first full time job after high school was with Northern Electric R & D Laboratory at Crystal Beach, Ottawa.
In 1964 Bob joined NCR Canada, moving to Belleville in 1967, got married and raised two great kids. He went back to night school for a number of years then moved to NCR Waterloo Engineering in 1982 as a Solution Engineer. Bob travels around the world resolving hardware and software problems on products designed and manufactured in Waterloo. Bob has a number of hobbies, stamp collector, messing around with his computer and working on the family genealogy. The genealogy bug started in 1987 after his son Jason asked his father about his Grandfather.
Bob is the author and publisher of the D'Aoust Genealogy Project Book.
He plans to continue working on the Genealogy project for many years and wishes to hear from any interested family members.

Edward is gone 16 years now
Tom here. Gerard and my dad, Edward, died on the same date six years apart (1/21). So, my dad has been gone 16 years this past Monday. Here are Jeanne and Ed outside their apartment in Raleigh, NC, around 1988 or 89.
We moved up from Austin, Texas to be closer to them after they moved from FL to Raleigh. It allowed them to enjoy their grands during their last years. They sure enjoyed our weekend visits when we would drive over from Charlotte (about 130 mi. each way).

Thank you everyone - from Annette's family
Joanne Braman-Palmer here, I just can't thank the family enough for the strength and encouragement during my mother's time in the hospital, many of you stepped up and helped my sisters and my brother and his wife Tammy, above and beyond expectations, especially during some of the moments when we, ourselves, couldn't handle much more. If some of you don't know, by the time Thursday, 1/10, hit - we were all pretty much at wits end. My stepdaughter, Bria, was being taken to Albany Med for, what the family thought at first, was appendicitis. She was in the emergency room on the 1st floor, mom had been moved to the post-surgical unit on the second floor and my husband and I were ready for the psych ward (I think it's on the 6th floor). I didn't know where I belonged, with my husband in the ER and his daughter, or my mother and my family - he didn't want to leave me alone and yet his daughter was scared out of her mind not knowing what was going to happen to her. It turns out she had kidney stones (at the age of 13) and they had to do emergency surgery on her which the hospital decided to do around 6 p.m. So it was up and down for Jimmy and I. Father came in and gave my mom her last rights around 6:15 p.m., Jimmy and I went down to the Recovery Room around 8 p.m. Bria (thankfully) was doing incredible and we were just heading back to be with mom when Terri called me and told me she took her last breath.
Again, I can't say thank you enough for being there before, during and after this whole ordeal. I would like to specially thank Suzy, Carolyn, Traci, Donna, Debbie & Frank and Nicole for all their hard work and thanks Tom for putting the obit up.
The good news is mom got to see DaoustNation on Christmas and was very pleased with it. We're not seeing a lot of activity on here lately. Let's keep DaoustNation alive for our parents. I know most of them are proud of this site.
P.S. Today is Uncle Gerard's 10th anniversary of his death and next Monday (the 28th) is my father's 10th anniversary.
Uncle Gerard- your in my thoughts and prayers, I hope you're all having a good time and keep watching over us - we all need it - there's a lot of us who are now orphans here and we still need guidance because, God knows, we'll never grow up - we can't - it's the Daoust in us.
Take care - Joanne Braman-Palmer

Annette Braman - passed away last night
Hi everyone - Joanne here, I guess DaoustNation has it's first sad announcement. My mother passed away last night at 8:15 (1/10/08), after being in Albany Medical Center monday night. It was a tough few days for my sisters, my brother and I - and yes, Eddie made it in with his wife Tammy on Wednesday, so he was able to be there and we know she knows he was there. She's at peace now and with my father, Uncle Wilfred, Aunt Julia, Holly, Lanny, Ronnie, Jr. ...... and the list goes on. She went peacefully. I would like to thank everyone who was there for us and I'm sure we'll see many of you at the wake. We'll keep you posted on the info. We have to meet with Lyon's Funeral Home this afternoon. Take care and thanks - Joanne Braman-Palmer
